Family and Child Life Services
The Family and Child Life Services Department is a team of professionals who strive to ensure the best physical and mental care for patients and families at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. We do this through individualized intercessions, education, advocacy and research within the public and medical communities.
The Family and Child Life Services Department is the home to many different disciplines who work together to provide the highest quality care. Our specialists include Child Life specialists who provide help to families and children trying to manage the hospital experience and Art and Music Therapists who form the Creative Arts Department.
In addition, the Department of Family and Child Life Services offers the Family Resource Center, a multi-media library that can help guide patients and families to the information that they seek. The department also manages the Pet Pals program that provides pet therapy for UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital's patients.
The department also supports on-site school teachers who can help our patients stay up to date with their school work. The department also supports The Rainbow Channel, the hospital’s own commercial-free, interactive television channel geared toward children and families.
