Sports Medicine Program

Treating a Full Range of Sports and Recreation-Related Injuries, Dedicated to Caring for Special Patients of All Ages

Kids can get injured in lots of ways. We treat them all here: injuries from playing organized sports, rigorous dance classes, and jumping homemade skateboard ramps in the driveway and a thousand other ways.

Because your child’s joints and bones may not be fully developed yet, a sports injury needs very specialized care. Our medical team members have the specialized training and experience that are critical to accurately diagnosing and treating pediatric sports injuries—and because we love taking care of kids, we do our best to make the experience a comfortable and nurturing one.

Educating our patients is a very important part of our work. If your child has asthma, for example, we’ll talk to her about how best to control it in sports. We may refer her to a cardiologist or a pulmonologist. In some cases we provide nutritional guidance. We talk about calories and how to improve energy levels toward the end of the game. We educate them on how to prevent ACL injuries and how to avoid dehydration. In fact we instruct them on our strict hydration guidelines to help them maximize their performance.

If your child experiences a sports or recreation-related injury, see your pediatrician immediately. If an injury has already been diagnosed, rest assured we’ll use all our skill and technology to treat it effectively and restore your child to robust health as quickly as possible.
