Fast Track Stone Clinic

We know that time is of the essence with the acute pain of kidney stones. That is why we fast track stone patients from the ER to the office for the most appropriate next-day treatment. The Fast Track Stone Clinic allows patients to call to make a same day or next day appointment with one of our urologists.

Patients who wish to make an appointment with the Fast Track Stone Clinic can call 216-844-5864 Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Treatment Options for Kidney Stones

To ensure the most effective treatment of kidney stones, we offer the most advanced treatments available, including:

  • Medical expulsive therapy: The use of alpha blocker medicines to help you pass a kidney stone in the ureter (the tube that drains urine from the kidney to the bladder).
  • Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL): A surgical technique used to remove certain stones in the kidney or upper ureter that are too large for other forms of stone treatment.
  • Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL): A procedure that uses shock waves to break a kidney stone into small pieces that can more easily travel through the urinary tract and pass from the body.
  • Ureteroscopic laser lithotripsy: Treatment to remove impacted stones from the upper urinary tract. Laser pulses delivered through a tiny fiber are used to pulverize the stone, avoiding invasive surgery. The stone is disintegrated and the remaining pieces are washed out of the urinary tract. This procedure is done under general anesthesia and is considered minimally invasive surgery.

Erectile Dysfunction and Low Testosterone Therapies

At the Men’s Health & Stones Center, we treat men of all ages with erectile dysfunction and low testosterone levels (Low T), using the following therapies:

  • Lifestyle modifications
  • Nonsurgical devices
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Surgical intervention

Our center uses measures to prevent erectile dysfunction in patients undergoing radiation therapy, and we have a comprehensive program for the treatment of urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction after surgical prostatectomy, or removal of the prostate gland.

In addition, we provide effective and safe treatment for low testosterone, including hormone replacement and androgen replacement for men with a history of prostate cancer.

Men’s Health and Male Fertility

Our men’s health specialists work collaboratively with other UH specialists in the areas of endocrinology, radiology and obstetrics/gynecology for accurate infertility diagnosis and treatments. This team approach helps identify medical or lifestyle issues that may affect the ability to produce sperm for conception.

To limit sperm production with a more permanent birth control solution, our urology specialists perform vasectomies on an out-patient basis. This simple surgical procedure is a safe and effective answer for many men.

Focus on Lifestyle and Prevention for Improved Health

Along with treating kidney stones and men’s health conditions, we develop a comprehensive plan for each patient that provides a strategy for prevention. The plan focuses on lifestyle habits and counseling for diet and supplement use, as well as steps to boost quality of life immediately after issues and in the future.

We talk with our patients about the importance of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening and the risk and benefits of screening, and use urologic and blood studies as diagnostic and preventive measures.
