When the first emergency hospital began service in Geneva over 100 years ago, little did they or the community know how greatly technology would change the face of medicine in the coming century. Today, as UH-Geneva Medical Center enters its second century of service to its surrounding communities, it is my pleasure to have the opportunity to present to you on-line an array of those technological advances that are available to you at UH-Geneva Medical Center, in your home communities in northeast Ohio.
One element that electronic technology cannot convey is the exceptional compassion, dedication and warmth of the staff at UH-Geneva Medical Center. At UH-GMC, quality patient care includes caring for persons as individual as well as addressing their healthcare needs. This is true for our Emergency Department as well as for the UH-GMC facility in its entirety.
Over the past several years, we have grown tremendously to serve the needs of our patients. Our Emergency Department expanded to 12 private suites, we have invested $2.5 million in a Diagnostic Imaging wing which provides dedicated Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), CT Scan and a full line of radiographic diagnostics. Plans are now in the implementation stage for a medical office building which will be located on-campus at UH-GMC. The groundbreaking in summer 2007 will begin our newest project, culminating in new office spaces dedicated to an expanded physician staff, as well as new clinical service areas.
As a community medical center within the University Hospitals healthcare system, we are able to provide exceptional health care locally, as well as being a direct portal to several clinical and research centers of excellence at UH-Case Medical Center campus. These centers are recognized nationally, as well as world-wide for clinical innovation and leading-edge medical research.
