Information

Salads can be a good way to get your daily nutrients. However, not all salads are healthy or nutritious. It depends on what is in the salad.

  • If you have plenty of fresh vegetables in the salad, then you are getting healthy, disease-fighting nutrients. Darker colored vegetables are generally healthier.
  • Beware of dressings, oils, or mayonnaise in your salads. These may add unhealthy levels of fat to your salad.
  • Croutons, bacon bits, and cheese significantly increase the amount of calories in a salad.
